History
Ghaziabad, founded by the Wazir Ghazi-un-din, the Minister of Mughal Emperor Ahmadshah and Alamgir II, in 1740, named it after himself and called it Ghaziuddinnagar. To rectify the problem in printing railway ticket with long name “Gajeeudin Nagar" , the area was renamed to Ghaziabad in 1864.
